Paper Handling Errors

Paper jams and feed issues are among the most common—and most annoying—printer problems. Whether the machine stops mid-job or crumples sheets before printing, these issues usually stem from something small like misaligned paper, worn rollers, or leftover scraps from a previous jam. Even the quality and condition of the paper can affect how well it feeds. While it might seem like a big issue, these kinds of problems are usually easy to prevent and fix with a little care during loading and setup.

Possible Causes:

  • Misaligned or overfilled paper tray
  • Wrinkled, curled, or damp sheets
  • Worn or dusty feed rollers
  • Torn paper stuck from earlier jams

Quick Fixes:

  • Remove any jammed or misfed sheets carefully
  • Reload clean, flat paper properly aligned in the tray
  • Wipe feed rollers gently if dusty
  • Avoid mixing paper types or sizes

Future Tips:

  • Fan the paper before loading to prevent sticking
  • Don’t overfill the tray, and store paper in a dry place
  • Run occasional maintenance to keep rollers clean
